Non-Bullshit Innovation – David Rowan, at USI
BIOGRAPHY
David Rowan is the Founding UK Editor-in-Chief, WIRED and the Author of Amazon #1 business bestseller Non-Bullshit Innovation: Radical Ideas from the World’s Smartest Minds (Penguin).
David is currently revising his book “Non-Bullshit Innovation” to show how real innovation matters even more in a post-COVID world if organisations are to compete and survive. The hardback edition, published by Penguin and translated into Russian, Japanese, Korean and more, became an Amazon #1 Business Best-Seller in the UK.
The book is about a 20-country quest for companies, government teams and bold entrepreneurs that have found ways to transform their value using 16 smart strategies that David can identify.
For the paperback edition of his book which is out next year, David is visiting businesses in sectors from education to pharmaceuticals. He is showing how the crisis is forcing accelerated thinking — in how they leverage technology, rethink business models, even refresh their organisation’s culture. How do today’s most effective leaders respond quickly to extended periods of uncertainty, to potentially long-term changes in customer behaviour, to a radical rethinking about the essence of “work” itself? How do they build resilience, create new revenue models, and broaden their competitive advantage? That comes down to understanding how real innovation differs from jargon and buzzwords.
David has already done over 600+ keynotes around the world. Event moderator for governments, WIRED, TED, World Economic Forum. His speaking clients over the past year have included Coca-Cola, Google, Facebook, London Business School, Adobe, HSBC and Deutsche Bank.
He is currently advising companies working in AI, health-tech, property-tech, autonomous driving, finance-tech, media and more, and am an adviser to Lakestar, one of Europe’s biggest venture-capital firms. Also as a satisfying side project, he has built a community of 250 interesting people from 30+ countries who share weekend adventures and commit to supporting each other. It’s called VOYAGERS and members (entrepreneurs, designers, investors etc) tell some fascinating stories in our magazine — and in lockdown created a virtual band. Enjoy…
And if that’s not enough, David is also the Technology columnist: The Times, GQ, Condé Nast Traveller. David enjoys moderating numerous events and conferences offline and online and also helping meeting organisers innovate in their formats! Offstage, he is spending considerable time with startup founders, as a prolific angel investor and startup adviser.
